BitPusher manages web servers, networks and other IT infrastructure, both
owned by BitPusher and hosted elsewhere. We build long-term relationships
with our customers and take the time to understand their applications, their
technical needs and their business needs. We customize things as required
to meet those needs, but we also keep things as standard as we can for
reasons that we’re sure you already understand.
Do you like making order out of chaos? Are you effective when managing lots
of little projects, but also have a tendency to make improvements that you
didn’t originally have in mind? Are you always looking for ways to manage
servers more efficiently? If so, let’s talk.
What you’ll do at BitPusher:
- Work with customers to migrate their production services to our
environment and to expand and to improve existing infrastructure
- Build automation and improve existing automation, for server and software
deployments and other administration tasks
- Manage and enhance our monitoring systems, including building custom
checks/plugins
- Participate in our on-call rotation
- Travel to data centers in far-off and exotic places like San Francisco
and Virginia
- Manage junior systems administrators
- Work with fun, intelligent people
What you won’t do at BitPusher:
- Deal with bureaucracy or other artificial impediments to getting things
done
- Have good ideas that no one listens to
- Be bored
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 8+ years of production systems administration experience in a Linux/UNIX
environment
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking including technologies such as
load balancing and caching
- Extensive experience with performance analysis and tuning for web-based
applications
- Expert-level knowledge of at least one well known monitoring system
- Experience as a team lead/project manager
- Strong scripting ability in shell or Perl
